When my friend Marlon asked if we could organize a tree planting activity in Rizal, I immediately said yes. Rizal had been devastated by recent typhoons, leaving many areas flooded. It broke my heart to see the damage, and I knew we needed to do something—not just for today, but for the generations to come. Planting trees felt like the least we could do to help restore and protect the land.
This mission became even more meaningful when my daughter and her two classmates, inspired by their school project titled “Save Sierra Madre,” joined the effort. They shared a vision: to give back to nature and create a better future by planting trees to restore the forests of Sierra Madre. I felt proud and inspired by their dedication, and it reminded me how small actions today can lead to lasting change.
With the incredible support of the 2nd Civil Military Operations Battalion (under the leadership of their Commanding Officer LTC Rolando M. Acido), we were able to plant 500 seedlings—400 Narra trees and 100 fruit-bearing trees. Volunteers from the Pranic Healing Association of the Philippines and Kooltek Philippines Inc. joined hands with us, making the day a true example of teamwork and hope.
Each seedling planted is more than just a tree. It represents a promise to Mother Nature—a promise to nurture, protect, and give back. Trees are the lungs of our planet, purifying the air, preventing floods, and providing a home for countless species. By planting trees, we are not only healing the earth but also creating a legacy for the next generation.
This advocacy is close to my heart. It’s not just a one-day event; it’s a commitment until 2040. We want to see these seedlings grow into forests, protecting Rizal from floods and benefiting communities for years to come. It’s a long-term vision, but one that fills me with hope and excitement.
Planting trees is also about planting good karma. It’s a chance to give back selflessly and attract abundance into our lives. As the trees grow, so does the positive energy we create—healing not just the earth but also our spirits.
