Hope and Healing for the Boys of Boystown
Recently, I had the privilege of being part of a mission that reminded me how powerful kindness can be—not just for those who receive it, but also for those who give it. Together with The Joyful Giver®, the Rotary Club, and the 11th CMO Kaugnayan Battalion of the Philippine Army, we reached out to the boys of Boystown in Marikina. These young boys, many of whom have faced unimaginable challenges, welcomed us with open hearts, and in return, we shared not only supplies and food but also messages of hope, healing, and love.
Boystown is more than just a shelter—it’s a safe haven for boys who have experienced hardships beyond their years. Yet, their journey toward healing is far from easy. They need more than a roof over their heads; they need guidance, reassurance, and emotional support to help rebuild their lives. Standing among them, I could see their strength, their potential, and their longing for a brighter future. It made me realize how important it is to let them know they are not alone.
What made this mission even more inspiring was the involvement of Lt. Col. Gene Orense and the officers of the 11th Civil Military Operations "Kaugnayan" Battalion. Seeing our soldiers, who dedicate their lives to protecting the nation, also take the time to uplift and support these boys was heartwarming. They reminded me that leadership isn’t just about strength; it’s about compassion, too.
This experience moved me in a way I can’t fully describe. It wasn’t just about giving food or supplies—it was about how we made those boys feel. We reminded them that their lives matter, that they have a future worth fighting for, and that they are loved. Healing doesn’t always come from big gestures. Sometimes, it’s the small, quiet acts of kindness that leave the most lasting impact.
At The Joyful Giver, we believe that true healing happens when we connect with others, when we help them see their worth, and when we make them feel valued. That’s why our support for Boystown doesn’t stop here. Through partnerships with RAFA PRANA® and the Pranic Healing Association of the Philippines, we’re introducing holistic healing to help these boys process their pain, overcome their fears, and find peace within themselves.
I believe that in helping others heal, we heal a part of ourselves, too. Seeing those smiles, hearing their laughter, and feeling their gratitude—it filled a space in my heart I didn’t even know needed healing. If this story has touched you, I invite you to join us. Together, we can bring light into the lives of those who need it most and remind them that the world hasn’t forgotten them.
With love and hope,
The Joyful Giver® ❤️
